Help Shalom Community in AFRICA

Shalom Catholic Community is present in 6 cities & countries of the African continent, these are: Lubango *Angola), Maputo (Mozambique), Antsiranana (Madagascar), Praia (Cape Verde), Alger (Algeria), and Sfax (Tunisia). The missions present in the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa develop a strong work with the poor people of the region.

Through the evangelization of the poor, Shalom Catholic Community has  increasingly incarnated the mission to go in the encounter of those who are in the peripheries of humanity, offering them food, education, orientation, prayer, and others. All this is done in order to give them back their dignity as human beings.

is a strong way to enlarge these projects and make them more effective.

Projects

136 children from 3 to 4 years old are welcomed every day to have access to education.

Shalom Community provides:

  • At least one meal per day to each child;
  • Medical follow-up (at least once a year).
  • Monitoring of families.
  • Spiritual support by means of prayer groups and visiting families.

In Mozambique this project has reached families and young people from all ages and have taken them from the difficult reality of chemical addiction, a very challenging situation in the country, and has offered a new life through spiritual accompaniment and prayer groups for the youth and for the adults.

  • Weekly distribution of 10 basic food baskets to numerous families that do not have any other source of income.
  • Prayer groups to adults and children.
  • 40 families reached in the last year, providing them donations of clothes, food baskets, activities for the children, spiritual support, and human formation.
  • Organization of annually events such as Shalom Cup, Acamp’s, Life in the Spirit Seminar, offering the youth a new sense to their lives.

Help Shalom Community in ASIA

Currently Shalom Community is present in 29 countries in America, Europe, Africa, Oceania and Asia.

Its first presence in Asia dates back to the year 2000, when a first mission was inaugurated in the Middle East, in Haifa, Israel. Few years later, the Community accepted the invitation from the Franciscan fathers to welcome the pilgrims at the Basilica of the Annunciation, in Nazareth.

In 2011, the Community moved a first step towards the Far East, with the aim to bring to Asian people an experience of Christ.

Help Shalom Community in ASIA

With the occasion of the Eucharistic Congress in February 2015 in Cebu, in the Philippines, we had the honor to meet for the first time His Eminence Cardinal Antonio Tagle, Archbishop of Manila. In that meeting, we presented our Charisma and showed Him our full disposal to serve the Church in his Archdiocese. Thanks to the precious suggestion of the Cardinal and the support of other communities already with a missionary experience in the country, we have gone forward in the process towards the establishment of a first presence of Shalom in the Philippines.

Evangelization work carried out:

Distribution of food and basic needs in high-risk areas. As an example, in January 2020 we assisted the population affected by the natural disaster of the Taal Volcano.

During the period of the pandemic (COVID-19), we assisted, with De La Salle University (DLSU), the homeless population with the organizational assistance of reception and food.

Once a week we visit the female prison, taking the Good News from the Word of God, distributing food and personal hygiene materials and serving in spiritual accompaniment.

Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas (UST), De La Salle University (DLSU) and Saint Paul University through Prayer Groups, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, formation, and personal counseling for students and staff, facilitators at meetings and Spiritual Retreats. Also through cultural and artistic events and vocational promotion.

Participation and service in meetings of formation for lay and religious people. Vocational promotion and meeting for young people. Lectures and auxiliary services with other communities.

The missionaries of Shalom Catholic Community live by God’s providence and one of the means it is manifested is by the generosity of generous people. We appreciate your efforts on praying for us here and your material generosity to help us bring the Good News farther.

God bless you!
